Two smallish mining companies, Shanta Gold arid AfriOre, started trading on AIM yesterday, shrugging aside investor scepticism sparked by the Regal Petroleum scandal.
Shanta focuses on the exploration and development of gold deposits in Tanzania and is raising about £4m through the placing of about 17 million ordinary shares at 25p. AfriOre, a Canadian listed explorer and developer, is not raising any new money.
