[miningmx.com] -- SHANTA Gold, a UK listed gold junior mining company, said drilling at its Katario prospect in Tanzania had begun with first results due in mid-December.
The drilling programme is aimed at understanding gold mineralisation within the Tembo Mine area. Prior workings at the Tembo Mine produced 41 kg of gold with an average grade of 6.9 g/t.
"In pursuit of further expansion of Shanta Gold's resource base, further drilling is planned at Mgusu once the Katario drilling programme is completed," said George Bennet, Shanta Gold CEO.
Shanta Gold currently holds prospecting rights over a resource base of just under 1 million oz comprising 741,000 oz at Mgusu and the balanced at Ikungu, both in Tanzania.
